News and Events

In November 2007, we held five days of consultations on Islam and HIV&AIDS. This ‘News and Events’ section aims to keep you updated on recent developments that are related to these consultations. Please find attached:

  • The 750-word article that was published in the 2008 World Disasters Report of the IFRC (launched on 26 June). As you will know, this is one of the top annual reports in the world, in the field of humanitarian work.
  • An HIV-related proposal that was developed by Dr. Akbari of AFGA, Afghanistan. The World Bank selected this proposal out of a thousand entries, and agreed to fund it. Dr. Akbari kindly agreed for it to be posted on this website, as an example of a replicable proposal that could be applied in other countries.
  • An update that we sent the participants six months after the event.

We would like to congratulate the LSL Muslim HIV Partnership in London: they have been awarded the Health and Social Care Award for their outstanding work to improve the access of the African Muslim communities in London to HIV services. For the people who attended our consultations: this is partly the work of Bashir and Fatma.

If you have announcements to make, or documents to share: please let us know!
